Câmara Municipal do Porto

Brief

The city wanted a small public structure on the riverbank that could host concerts in summer and shelter fishermen in winter.

Section

A single concrete box reaches six metres over the water. A long bench runs along its open side, and a stair drops directly to the river at low tide.

Material

In-situ concrete cast against pine boards, left untreated. Granite steps reclaimed from the old quay.
