Brief
A home and studio for a painter, built where an eighteenth-century barn once stood, using the barn’s stone footings as the new foundation.
Section
A single gabled volume holds one long room under the roof. The painting studio faces north; the kitchen catches the morning light from the sea.
Material
Untreated Scottish larch laid diagonally, sheep’s wool insulation and a slate floor from a quarry twelve miles away.
