Brief

A housing cooperative asked for homes that families could stay in for forty years: flexible plans, generous shared spaces and rents that stay low.

Section

Two courtyards are linked by open stairs and wide landings, so neighbours meet on the way home. Every apartment is dual-aspect and has a deep loggia.

“The stair is the most social room in the building, so we made it the most beautiful.”

Material

Recycled-aggregate concrete, timber-frame infill walls and rust-red doors that give each entrance its own colour in a grey courtyard.
