The Kaskade Library opened to the public on the first weekend of June, with readings, workshops and a long night of open doors that ended well after midnight.
A room for the district
The library holds 120,000 volumes, a children’s floor, a makers’ workshop and a café on the ground floor that stays open after the reading rooms close.
We are grateful to the Canton of Basel-Stadt, to our engineers and builders, and to the neighbours who lived with the site for four years and still came to the opening.
